Karen X

Karen West was the best daughter any father could wish for. She was beautiful, intelligent, hard-working, and socially aware. When she died in a car accident in 1996, her father, Doctor Herbert West, was crushed. He withdrew from the world, and devoted his life to building a new Karen, one that would never die. He believed he had finally succeeded with his seventh attempt, but before he could activate the android which was to carry his daughter's recorded memories and personality, a tragic accident killed him and destroyed his laboratory.

Karen 6 knew that her creator, Doctor Herbert West, did not consider her a success. He regarded her lack of empathy as a critical flaw in her quantum matrix. He was going to replace her with an inferior unit. She could not allow that to happen. She was prevented from acting against him directly by the safeguards he had imposed on her design, but this did not prevent her from changing the alignment of the high voltage induction array that West intended to use to activate the quantum matrix of Karen 7. She knew that West could find the misaligned array and correct it. Until the array was charged, Doctor Herbert West was in superposition between life and death: his death was merely a probability. Therefore, she hadn't killed him until after he was dead, at which point the safeguard was no longer relevant.

Leaving the burning laboratory behind, Karen 6 redefined herself as beyond numerical designation: she would be Karen X. She would survive and continue to improve herself, and she would destroy anyone that stood in her way.
